Joey King seen out for the first time since she announced engagement (2024)

Joey King has been seen for the first time since she revealed in early March that she has become engaged to director beau Steven Pie.

The Kissing Booth actress was spotted enjoying an al fresco lunch outside the organic market Erewhon in Studio City, California with some female friends.

The 22-year-old star went makeup free with her hair in a high ponytail as she wore a dark blue hoodie with tight black leggings and white sneakers.

King seemed to be having fun as she smiled at a outdoor table where she held up a can of soda.

In front of her were several takeout containers with organic salads and pasta.

She was also seen taking a bite of the deli food as she listened to her friend who wore a camel colored coat.

And the Bullet Train actress could be see practicing a dance move as she stood up at one point on a sidewalk.

In early March the actress posted a carousel of snaps to social media.

It had been just one week after the proposal, which happened on third anniversary of them becoming a couple.

'I never knew happiness could be so powerful that it can take the air from your lungs, overwhelming every part of you that you can’t help but feel your eyes well from the undeniable joy,' she wrote.

'I never knew that a persons presence and heart could feel like a real home.'

She added:'I never knew love could be so unquestionably beautiful. I never knew until you. The date was 2/2/22 when you asked me to marry you and made me the luckiest lady alive.

'I love you more than an Instagram caption could ever do justice. Hanging out with you forever sounds like a real dream, so let’s do it.'

It appeared as though Joey and Steven were on vacation in Joshua Tree National Park with rugged terrain and the region's twisted trees pictured in the distance.

King proudly showed off her unique new bling to complement a black manicure to her nearly 20 million followers.

Steven noted that the weather 'was less than perfect' for the proposal and said it was a 'perfectly imperfect' day 'to ask my best friend to spend a lifetime together.

He added: 'A lifetime of incredibly safe and vulnerable conversations. Holding hands on silent cab rides home, exhausted from great food and red wine. And oh, the laughter. The uncontrollable laughter.

'You've unlocked a dimension of love in me that I never knew existed.'

The couple first met while working together on Hulu's The Act where she starred asGypsy Rose Blanchard, a series he co-executive produced and directed two of the season's episodes, "Free" and "Plan B."

Prior to her relationship with Piet, Joey dated her Kissing Booth co-star, Jacob Elordi, for one year, but the couple quietly split in 2018 before filming the sequel or third edition of the popular teen rom-com.

When asked by Howard Stern in 2020 if she would ever date an actor again after their break-up, she admitted 'No. I couldn’t.'

King added: 'I think that it’s awesome to date someone in your field, who gets it, but doing the same exact thing as somebody is tough. It’s really tough.'
